Story of this one-of-a-kind canvas painting: Inspired by ancient Japanese Shibori pattern and my love for the Japanese heritage.

While traveling the world to find my family, I also went to Japan. I stayed longer than planned and followed the footsteps of my aunt to places full of magic and history.

In Japan, the art of Shibori has a long tradition and has been used since the 8th century AD. Originally, especially the poorer population upgraded their clothes with it. Later, the technique was also used by the elite population for kimonos or door curtains among other things.

To this day, Shibori is considered a recognized folk art in Japan. With knowledge of ancient skills and respect for their ancestors' innovations, contemporary artists, designers, and craftspeople around the world are reviving their shared cultural heritage.
