You might know these days. Summer is such a delight, all the flowers, the ocean, the light breeze, getting out into nature with friends. When summer comes to an end, these last days of summer have a very special feeling, a certain smell, and (with me at least) certain emotions.

Manet, Delacroix, and Renoir very often painted peonies, not only because of their symbolism. It might seem strange to some, but the smell peonies and roses in general bring these memories of the last days in summer always back to my mind. Especially in the time when they are losing their petals.

Inspired by peonies, nature, and the last days of summer while in Japan.
